KIAC, in partnership with Jazz Yukon, is thrilled to present the David Friesen Trio. On Friday, February 25th at 8:00pm, you’ll get a chance to hear Friesen, noted as one of the most influential bassists in the history of jazz, along with John Gross on tenor saxophone and Greg Goebel on keys.

Here’s a video of two members of the trio (Friesen and Gross) performing “Knuckle’” on Bright Moments! with Lynn Darroch on KMHD 89.1

For more about the trio and to hear more samples, check out the  excellent performer profile on the Jazz Yukon website.

For classical music fans, KIAC and Whitehorse Concerts will present Trio Accord on Sunday, March 6th at 7:30pm in the KIAC Ballroom.  From their website:

“Trio Accord is developing a reputation as one of Canada’s premier chamber ensembles. Based in Vancouver, BC, Mary Sokol Brown (violin), Andrew Brown (viola), and Ariel Barnes (cello) are ardent and enthusiastic proponents of chamber music. […] Trio Accord takes particular delight in presenting concerts in churches, private homes and other intimate settings suited to the spirit of chamber music. These concerts have been described as ‘enchanting’, ‘exhilarating’, and ‘extremely moving.’”

To watch a performance video and hear sample tracks, visit the Trio Accord website.

These will be engaging, exciting shows for all ages, and we recommend going to both! In fact, we’re offering a ticket combo deal: $25 for adults, and $20 for seniors and youth for tickets to both the jazz and classical show. This is only available until February 25th, so contact KIAC right away. Don’t miss this opportunity to see these world-class musicians perform in our community!
