As much as entertainment is a big part of the Dawson City International Short Film Festival, there are also workshops and seminars that are grist for the mill for the Klondike’s impressive cadre of aspiring filmmakers.
On Friday 14 April from noon to 4 p.m., aRTLeSS Collective‘s, Jay Bulckaert and Pablo Saravanja, creators of the Dead North Film Festival, are hosting a Video Bootcamp at the Yukon School of the Visual Arts. During the intensive four-hour mentoring session, filmmakers of all levels get to hone their cinematic skills during the start-to-finish creation of a one-minute video. Teams go from concept creation and scriptwriting, to pre-production and casting, shooting, and post-production. The work takes place over the weekend and the final productions will be screened during the DCISFF’s Sunday finale.
aRTLeSS Collective is a Yellowknife-based creative media studio run by Bulckaert and Saravanja. They have been working in the forefront of film, television, and media poduction in the Northwest Territories for more than 20 years combined. The Collective has had a hand in some of the most exciting film projects to be produced in the NWT in the last decade.
